Arlond "Sonny" Lee Sipes Jr., Of Jacksonville, Florida, passed away on May 4, 2026, at the age of 75. He was born in Jackson, Michigan, on July 24, 1950, to parents Arlond Lee Sipes, Sr., and Mary Helen Sipes.

A man of steadfast devotion and quiet bravery, "Sonny" built a life defined by hard work, faithful service, and deep love for those around him. He served in the U.S. Navy for 20 years, retiring in 1987 as a Master Chief Machinist's Mate. After his military retirement, he continued his working life for several years at the shipyard, carrying forward the same dependable dedication that marked every season of his life.

"Sonny" married his wife of 30 years, Mary Lou Sipes, in 1971. Together they shared a life grounded in commitment and family. He found genuine joy in traveling the world, fishing, and cooking, widely known as an excellent cook. Above all, he treasured time with his family, especially his granddaughters. He also valued community, enjoying conversations with neighbors and taking part in neighborhood events. In these everyday moments, he was deeply loved.

"Sonny" is survived by his daughter Hollie (Todd) Watson; grandchildren Haley Watson and Ava Watson; siblings Jerry (Gaye) Sipes, Sandy Hixon (Phil Hendricks), Sherry (Al) Hendrick; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents Arlond Sr., and Mary Helen Sipes, wife Mary Lou Sipes, sisters Patricia (Leslie) McWatters and Nancy (Jack) Dunham, and nephew Little Jerry Sipes.

Family will greet friends and family Thursday, May 14, 2026 from 4:00 to 8:00 pm, with services at 9:30 Friday, May 15, 2026 at Burden-Patience-Montgomery Funeral Home (1806 E. Michigan Ave. Jackson, MI 49202). Arlond "Sonny" Lee Sipes Jr. will be laid to rest at Fort Custer National Cemetery in Augusta, Michigan.
