On Friday, June 19th, 2026 at the age of 81. Beloved husband of Leana Schmerer for 59 years. Devoted father and father-in-law of Joanna Coleman and Greg MacDonald, and Joshua Coleman. Son of the late William and the late Ruth Coleman; and son-in-law of the late Max and the late Sylvia Schmerer. Predeceased by his brothers Jack, and Reeves (Sharon); and dear brother-in-law of Jerry and Linda Schmerer. Loving uncle to his nieces and nephews Jamie and April, Jordan; Karen; Edouard, and Andrew and their families. Barry will be lovingly remembered by his family and many dear friends. The family would like to acknowledge with sincere gratitude BethCare Senior Services, Catherine Booth Rehabilitation Hospital, and the Jewish General Hospital all for their exceptional care and compassion.
Funeral service from Paperman & Sons, 3888 Jean Talon St. W., on Thursday, June 25 at 1:00 p.m. Burial at the Memorial Park Cemetery, de la Savane. Shiva strictly private. Contributions in Barry’s memory may be made to a charity supporting human rights, or to a charity of your choice.
