Avilda C. Garza

Avilda C. Garza entered into eternal rest on Monday, May 18, 2026, at a nursing home in Falfurrias, Texas, at the age of 93. She was born on September 5, 1932, in Falfurrias to Bilzen Cuellar and Petra Perez Cuellar.

Avilda was a quiet and hardworking woman who devoted much of her life to helping her husband on the family farm, working in the fields and tending to her garden with care and dedication. She found joy in the simple things in life and especially enjoyed watching television, with novelas being among her favorite pastimes. She will be remembered for her gentle spirit, strong work ethic, and the love she shared with her family and those around her.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Raul S. Garza Sr.; brothers, Jose Cuellar, Juan Cuellar, and Ruben Cuellar; and her sister, Anabel Munoz.

She is survived by her two sons, Raul (Susan) Garza Jr. of Corpus Christi, Texas, and Robert (Patricia) Garza of Falfurrias; brother, Domingo Cuellar of Harlingen, Texas; four grandchildren, Jessica (Louie) Guerra, Raul (Marissa) Garza III, Joe Daniel (Kelsey) Garza, and Joseph (Monica) Arevalo; 13 great-grandchildren, Kayla, Mariah, Joey, Hailey, Jonathan, Joshua, Josiah, Abby, Adam, Lexi, Levi, William, and Zaria; four great-great-grandchildren, Alaya, Landon, Carter, and Braxton; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

A Rosary will be prayed at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, May 22, 2026, at the Funeraria Del Angel Howard Williams in Falfurrias with Visitation beginning at 5:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 23, 2026, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Falfurrias. Graveside services will conclude with Burial at Los Caballos Cemetery in Falfurrias at a later date.
