Barbara Lee Meng, 88, of Tampa, Florida, passed away on May 25, 2026. She was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, and lived with purpose and grace, finding fulfillment in her family, dedication in her work, and happiness in life's simple moments.
Barbara attended Highlands High School in Fort Thomas, Kentucky, and went on to earn her bachelor’s degree from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. She devoted much of her career to serving others, first as an elementary and nursery school teacher and later as an executive assistant at St. Petersburg College in St. Petersburg, Florida.
She found joy in life’s everyday moments and had a deep love for singing, listening to music, and traveling. Barbara will be remembered for her warmth, her kindness, and the meaningful connections she built with those around her.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Meng; her father, James Fain Brandhorst; her mother, Mildred Bohart Brandhorst; and her brother, James Fain Brandhorst Jr.
Barbara is survived by her daughter, Lucinda Lee Barksdale (Steven Jinx), and her son, John Barksdale (Suzanne Barksdale). She is also survived by her four stepchildren—David Meng (Linda Meng), Sharon Horton (Al Horton), Steven Meng (Catherine Meng), and Andy Meng—as well as extended family and loved ones who will cherish her memory.
