Barbara Powell Speers

Barbara Powell Speers, age 80, passed away peacefully on July 24, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and cherished memories.

Barbara was a devoted mother and a proud grandmother whose greatest joy in life was her family. She possessed a warm heart, a welcoming smile, and a jovial attitude that made everyone feel at ease. An avid traveler, she always looked forward to the new adventures it brought. Her unwavering faith was a cornerstone of her life, and she was a dedicated member of the First Baptist Church of Homestead for over 60 years.

For many years, Barbara dedicated herself to her career with BellSouth. Respected for her hard work, commitment, and friendly spirit, she built lasting relationships with her coworkers and took immense pride in serving others. Whether she was spending time with loved ones, sharing jokes and stories with friends, or simply enjoying life's everyday moments, she brought joy to everyone around her. Her presence will be deeply missed, but the love she shared will remain in the hearts of all who knew her.

She is survived by her daughter, Margaret Speers Terry (husband Troy); her granddaughter, Kaitlyn Terry; her brother, David Earle Powell (wife Martha); her nephew, David Eric Powell (wife Nyvia); her niece, Elizabeth Nelson (husband Chris); and her nephews, Scott Alderman (wife Laura) and Kevin Alderman (wife Connie). She also leaves behind many dear friends who will continue to honor her life by remembering her kindness.

Barbara's life is beautifully reflected in the words of Scripture from 2 Timothy 4:7–8:"I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day—and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing."

May she rest in the eternal peace of God's loving embrace, forever loved and never forgotten.
