Barbara T Shannon

Bobbi, a loving mother, sister, cherished friend, and devoted woman of faith, passed away peacefully on 08/19/2026 at the age of 84.

These are her words she wrote;

“If you are hearing this, I have been called to the great beyond.

My life has had its ups and downs, but I have prospered and put one foot in front of the other to keep going. Raised in a large family I grew in stature (to a point) and started on my journey through life.

I learned quite early to share what I have with others….mainly my sisters! Starting school and learning there were other people in the world that existed, I continued to learn and grow. I was always taught to be kind to others and always look for the good in people. This was hard sometimes, as some of the people that crossed my path were not quite what I thought kind and good would be.

My Mom always said I was the clown and traveler of the family. I was always full of fun and laughter wherever I went. I wanted the world to laugh with me and to feel at ease in tense situations. I married a veteran sailor and even after he left the service, we moved every two years. He was always amazed no matter where we would end up in a city, I knew someone living there”.

Bobbi will be remembered most for the love she gave so freely to her family and friends. She was a caring and devoted mother who treasured her family and found great joy in the time they shared together. As a sister and friend, she was someone others could count on—kind, compassionate, and always ready with a listening ear and a helping hand.

Her faith was an important part of her life. She was an active member of First Presbyterian Church of Pt. St. Lucie and recently of Stuart, where she found joy in worship, fellowship, and serving others. Her faith was not simply something she practiced on Sundays—it was something she carried with her every day.

One of the most meaningful ways she shared her faith and compassion was through her love of knitting and crocheting. With her own hands and a generous heart, she lovingly made prayer shawls for Hospice patients. Each shawl was more than a handmade gift; it was a tangible expression of comfort, prayer, and love for someone facing a difficult time. She believed that a simple act of kindness could bring warmth and hope to another person.

Her legacy will live on not only through her children, family, and friends, but also through the many lives she touched with her faith, generosity, and caring spirit. The prayer shawls she lovingly created will continue to offer comfort to others, carrying with them a little piece of the love she shared so generously.

She is survived by sons Michael Shannon(Lisa), Gary Shannon. Bruce Shannon(Desiree), and Christopher (Tricia) along with 15 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren and many other beloved family members and friends who will miss her dearly. She was preceded in death by her husband Gene, son Gene Raymond and grandaughter Misty.

Though she will be deeply missed, her family takes comfort in knowing that her life was one of love, faith, service, and compassion. Her hands may no longer be busy creating, but the love she wove into the lives of others will remain forever.
