Bea Ross

16 septembre 2026 Dignity Memorial

Bea Ross, a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and steadfast friend, passed away peacefully on September 16, 2026, at the age of 92. Known for her enduring optimism, infectious laughter, and generous spirit, Bea brought warmth and light into every life she touched.

Born on October 26, 1933, in New Bloomfield, Missouri, Bea was the youngest of seven children. Facing adversity early with the loss of her mother at age three and her father during her teenage years, she was lovingly raised with the help of her older sisters. Despite humble beginnings, Bea looked back on her early life not with hardship, but with humor and gratitude, carrying that resilient positivity throughout her life.

In the 1950s, Bea married the love of her life, Gerald Ross. Together, Bea and Gerald welcomed two children, Kaffie and Keith, and with open arms and a caring heart, she embraced motherhood with Gerald’s two children, Martha and Gerry, completing a tight-knit and loving family. They lived in Kansas City, Kansas, for many years, later moving to Topeka in the mid-1970s for Gerald’s work.

Bea’s hospitality was legendary. At the family’s getaway home at the Lake of the Ozarks, their door was constantly open to family, friends, and neighbors. Bea was the consummate hostess—she delighted in making sure every visitor felt welcomed, loved, and thoroughly well-fed.

When Gerald faced declining health, Bea stood faithfully by his side as an unwavering pillar of strength, devotion, and compassion until his passing. She remained in Topeka as a widow for nearly two decades, continuing to live life with the bright, upbeat outlook that defined her.

Bea found genuine joy in life’s simple pleasures: vibrant flowers, singing birds, cooking for loved ones, and sharing long, laughter-filled conversations. She never met a stranger, and a conversation with Bea was never short on laughter, warmth, or good cheer. In her final years at Rossville Nursing Home, her humor and gentle disposition made her beloved by the staff and caregivers, serving as a constant bright spot and a reminder to always look on the bright side of life.

Bea is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Gerald; her parents; and her brothers and sisters.

Her memory will be forever cherished by her children: Kaffie, Keith, Martha, and Gerry; her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; as well as many extended family members, friends, and neighbors who were blessed to know her.

A graveside service will be held Wednesday, October 21st, 2026 at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, 701 N. 94th Street, Kansas City, KS. The time is pending and will be updated soon.
