Blair Wilkinson Drum of Charlotte, NC went to be with the Lord on Thursday, the 9th of July 2026. He has resided in Ponte Vedra Beach, FL, recently. Born on the 22nd of April, 1940, he was the son of the late Mack and Della Wilkinson Drum. He was born in Newton, NC.
He is survived by his wife, Ilena King Drum; one son, Michael and wife, Paula; two grandchildren: Alexandra and Hudson of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL; sister-in-law, Sarah Brady; nieces: Mindy Polk and Marcy Cox of Tampa, FL; nephew, Robert Cox and wife, Michelle of Leonardtown, MD; grand-nephew, Matthew Henry and grand-niece, Jessica Cox and several loving and devoted cousins.
Blair graduated from Newton-Conover High School in Newton, NC. He was a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and always an avid fan of Carolina.
He was an analytical, research and environmental chemist, working first for Southern Dyestuff Company in Mt Holly. The company changed names several times and Blair retired as Regulatory Affairs Manager for Clariant Corporation (same company) in Charlotte. He was privileged to travel extensively with his company.
Blair was a devoted Christian and member of Moore’s Chapel United Methodist Church, serving as church treasurer for many years.
He loved his family and friends dearly. He was the epitome of kindness, helpfulness and patience. He will be missed by all who knew him.
A service to celebrate his life will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, the 15th of July, 2026 in the Chapel of McEwen Funeral & Cremation Service at Forest Lawn West. Burial with military honors will follow in Forest Lawn West Cemetery. The family will receive friends with a reception following the committal service at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Moore’s Chapel United Methodist Church, 10601 Moore’s Chapel Rd, Charlotte, NC 28214.
