Blanche Indyke

Blanche Indyke, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on September 5, 2026, at The Jefferson Home in Newington. She was 102 years old.

Blanche was born on October 30, 1923, in New York, NY, to the late Jack Felsenfeld and Rae (Tepper) Felsenfeld. She attended schools in New York and later married the love of her life, the late Paul Indyke, in 1944.

Blanche worked for the New York Public Library for 20 years before retiring. She and Paul later moved to San Mateo, California, where they enjoyed 16 wonderful years together. Eventually making her home in Newington, Connecticut, Blanche became an active part of the local senior center community, spending many happy years there and forming lasting friendships.

A woman of many interests and talents, Blanche enjoyed reading, classical music, acrylic painting, and taking daily walks. She especially loved visiting Elizabeth Park and admiring its beautiful flowers. She cherished her family dearly and treasured the many friendships she made throughout her life, both in Connecticut and California.

Blanche will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Sherry Indyke, and her partner, George Semenec; her grandson, Brian Shaltakoff, and his wife, Caren; her grandson, Neil Shaltakoff, and his wife, Anuradha Basak; and her great-grandsons, David and Logan Shaltakoff.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Paul Indyke; her daughter, Chloe Indyke; and her brother, Paul Indyke.

A graveside service will be held privately at the Connecticut State Veterans Cemetery, Bow Lane, Middletown, CT.
