Braxton W Herring Jr.

Braxton "Brack" Herring, Jr. of the Ellendale community of Bartlett, TN passed away Friday, August 21, 2026 at the age of ninety. He was born June 26, 1936 in Memphis, TN. His father, Braxton Herring, Sr., died in 1938. His mother, Bernice, remarried Ed Gelston. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Sammie, brother Eddie Gelston of Raleigh, NC, son Braxton Herring, III (Kelley), daughter Susan Herring, four grandchildren; Jacob, Ava, Samuel, and Sarah Herring, and three great grandchildren; Stella, Holden, and Reece.

Brack was born at the Methodist Hospital, downtown Memphis, and graduated from Bartlett High School in 1954. He was a lifetime member of the Bartlett Baptist Church where he loved being an usher and greeting people. He was the Volunteer Fire Chief of the Ellendale Fire Department. He retired from Central Woodwork in 2005.

Visitation will be held at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 3700 North Germantown Parkway, Bartlett, TN 38133, US, on August 29, 2026, from 9:00 am to 10:00 am, followed by the Funeral Service at the same location from 10:00 am to 11:00 am.
A Committal Service will take place at Memphis Memory Gardens, 6444 Raleigh Lagrange Rd, Memphis, TN 38134, US, on August 29, 2026, from 11:15 am to 11:45 am.
