It is with deep sadness that we announce that Brian Devey, surrounded by his wife and daughters at his beloved home on Lake Bexie, passed away at the age of 79 following a long and difficult battle with illness.
Born on May 18, 1947, in Montreal, Brian Devey was the devoted husband of Judith (Hopkins) for 57 years, the loving father of Robin Burry (Robert), Dawn Kenton (Colin), and Dayle McCallum (Jeff), and the proud grandfather of Alexander, Olivia, Charlotte, Nolan, and Katherine. He was the cherished brother of Linda Devey (Richard) and the late Donald Devey (Suzanne), a longtime friend and brother-in-law to Kenneth Hopkins (the late Lee), and a playful uncle to Robert Devey-Bujold, Wendy Hopkins, and Kimberley Devey. He was the beloved son of the late Harry and Jean Devey (Mackenzie).
Brian's greatest passion was his family. He found immense joy in connecting with and supporting his neighbors, community, and friends. His lifelong friendships were a testament to the genuine care and loyalty he demonstrated throughout his life. Brian was known for his sense of humor, kindness, generosity, dedication, determination, and unwavering reliability.
Brian believed deeply in the value of hard work, a principle he lived by throughout his 43-year career in the printing industry. As a highly skilled embosser, he earned the respect of his colleagues while working in Montreal and Ottawa.
Among the many things that brought him joy were fishing, the challenge of repairing and restoring things, helping neighbors, riding his ATV, and using his John Deere tractor on his lakeside property. Brian was devoted to and took great pride in caring for his beloved home at Lake Bexie, a place that brought him peace, happiness, and countless cherished memories.
Brian leaves behind a lasting impression on everyone who knew him. His sense of humor, warmth, generosity, and willingness to help others touched countless lives. Although he will be deeply missed, his presence will continue to be felt in the stories shared, the lessons remembered, and the love he leaves behind. His legacy of hard work, kindness, and community spirit will endure for generations to come.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the palliative home care team in Argenteuil for their compassionate support, guidance, and kindness during this difficult time.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, July 26, 2026, at Roland Ménard Funeral Home, 395 Grace Street, Lachute, QC J8H 1M3. Family and friends are invited to gather starting at 1:00 p.m. The memorial service will begin at 2:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Brian's memory may be made to Myeloma Canada through their donation page, https://support.myeloma.ca/site/Donation, or to a charity of your choice.
Forever loved, deeply missed, and fondly remembered.
