Bruce N. DeLugo, 76, of Falmouth, ME, passed away peacefully at his home on August 20, 2026, after a 2-year long battle with various complications from a stroke.
Bruce was born to the late Daniel and Naomi DeLugo, and grew up in West Hempstead, New York, graduating from West Hempstead High School in 1968. After graduation, Bruce attended C.W. Post college and then transferred to the University of Hartford, Hartt College of Music.
Growing up on Long Island, Bruce was always around dogs, as there was always a dog in the household. He finally was able to call one his own. Samantha, an Old English Sheepdog, became HIS first dog, followed by Bailey (Old English Sheepdog), Charlie (chocolate Lab), Lexi, (Chesapeake Retriever), and finally Shaggy, his companion for the past 9 years.
He acquired an affection for antique clocks through the years. He became a collector and repair person and continued both collecting and repairing when he moved to Maine. He was a member of the NAWCC (National Association of Watch and Clock Collectors) Chapter 89 and was respected for both his knowledge of clocks and their inner workings and what made them tick.
Bruce was a retired middle school band director with the East Hartford (CT) School District, where he taught for 35 years after graduating with his music degree. His love of music grew from the time he was in elementary school, through his high school years, and on into his collegiate years. He wanted to become a teacher to help spread his love of music to young aspiring musicians, and to those who didn’t realize they had a love of music just yet.
One of his greatest accomplishments as a young high school musician was his selection to perform with the American Airlines United States Youth Orchestra performing at Carnegie Hall.
