Carmen Cardona passed on August 28, 2026, at the age of 72, having been born on February 25, 1954, and residing in San Jose, California.
Our beautiful Mama, Carmen—affectionately known as “Carmelita” and “Carba”—was born and raised in San Jose, where she lived a full and beautiful life. From her earliest years, she carried a gentle strength and a loving spirit that shaped her journey. She raised three children with unwavering devotion, creating a home that overflowed with warmth, laughter, and the kind of togetherness that becomes the foundation of a family. Her house was more than a place to live—it was a sanctuary of love, where everyone felt welcome. She was blessed to be surrounded by family throughout her life, a gift she cherished deeply.
She devoted 30 years to the medical field, where her kindness and dedication touched countless lives and led to lifelong friendships. Coworkers quickly became more than colleagues—they became an extension of her family. The friendships she built over those decades were deep and lasting, and provided support through every season of life. Her work family welcomed her into their homes and celebrations, inviting her to picnics, barbecues, birthdays, and all of life’s biggest moments. They shared recipes with one another —especially “Alice Matthew’s” gourmet potatoes, a dish that became a beloved tradition and one we still make every Thanksgiving. Those years were not just a career for her; they were a community, a source of joy, and a testament to the love she poured into everything she did.
Mom was a woman of many talents and endless warmth. Her hands were rarely still—always creating beauty through crochet, sewing, and lovingly prepared meals that brought her family together. Her artistic eye extended to photography, capturing life’s precious moments and turning them into treasured memories. She was also known for her joyful spirit on the dance floor, entertaining family from a young age with her signature moves—the pony, the washing machine, and lively cumbias. Her love for Elvis was legendary; his music and movies filled her home, with “Viva Las Vegas” and “Suspicious Minds” often playing in the background, becoming the joyful soundtrack of family life.
Though she preferred the comfort of home, our Mom was blessed to travel abroad and visit many countries. One of her favorite journeys took her to Victoria, British Columbia, where the beauty of the world‑famous Butchart Gardens filled her with wonder. In the Netherlands, the Anne Frank Museum moved her deeply, and the historic shores of Normandy left a lasting impression. She bravely traveled through the English Channel Tunnel from France to England and visited some of Europe’s most iconic sites. Every trip added richness to her story, reflecting her curiosity, courage, and appreciation for the world’s beauty.
Her faith guided her through life’s joys and challenges with grace, strength, and unwavering devotion. She lived a life defined by compassion, kindness, and generosity—a life worth celebrating and remembering.
Above all, she treasured her family. As a devoted grandmother, she loved her grandchildren with her whole heart and found joy in every smile, every hug, and every moment shared. Camille and Adrian were truly the center of her world. Every milestone they reached, every laugh they shared, and every memory created together filled her soul with boundless pride and love.
Her bond with her sisters—Mina, Irene, Julie, Margie, and Esther—was truly one of a kind, built on a lifetime of shared laughter, friendship, and unwavering love. Their casino trips were among her happiest moments, filled with fun, food, and the kind of joy only sisters can bring. Those memories were treasures she carried in her heart.
Her truest legacy will always be the kindness and compassion she carried so naturally. She had a rare and beautiful soul—one that could not bear to see anyone in pain. She offered help freely, without hesitation or judgment, and always with genuine love. Her gentle spirit touched everyone she met, leaving behind a legacy of empathy, generosity, and grace.
She leaves behind her cherished grandchildren, Camille and Adrian; her loving daughters, Irene and Julia; and her devoted daughter‑in‑law, Heather—each of whom will carry forward her legacy of love, faith, and compassion. Her spirit is forever woven into the fabric of our lives, guiding us with the same love she always gave.
She was welcomed into Heaven by her cherished son, Adrian Jr.; her beloved grandmother, Mommie Ramona; her parents, William and Theresa; her brothers, Charlie and Richard; and the many treasured family members who went before her. Each one held a special place in her heart. Though she carried the weight of profound loss, she found solace in her unwavering faith—the promise of eternal life and the hope of a joyful reunion with her loved ones in Heaven, bringing comfort to all who loved her.
A celebration of her life will be held on September 30, 2026, at Oakhill Memorial Park, Chapel of Roses, with a service of worship and thanksgiving for the gift of her life and the blessing of knowing she is now at rest in the arms of Jesus.
"Well done, good and faithful servant… enter into the joy of your Lord." — Matthew 25:23
