Carol Dawn Knight

Carol Dawn Adams Knight, also known by most as Nana, was born February 19, 1940, in the town of Butler, Alabama, peacefully drifted off to eternal rest on June 12, 2026, surrounded by the warmth and love of her family. She was a woman whose life was a tapestry woven with love, resilience, and a feisty spirit that left an indelible mark on all who knew her. Daughter to the late Thomas Leroy and Minnie Ola Adams, Carol was the wife of William Otto Knight, whom she married on October 3, 1959. Together, they built a life filled with family until his passing July 1, 2017.

Predeceased by her parents, her husband of nearly 58 years Otto, her siblings Buster, Lynn, Minnie, and Hunter Bryant, and her grandson Bruce Zigmont.

Carol's legacy of love continues to shine brightly through her surviving family. A devoted mother to her son Craig and wife Stephanie, daughter Cindy, and husband Harold. Carol's nurturing spirit extended to her granddaughters Jessica, Tiffany and husband Derrick, and Taylor, and her precious great-grandchildren, Andy, Brenden, Shelby, and Dillon. Her family was the heart of her world, and she cherished every moment spent with them, including numerous nieces and nephews who held a special place in her heart.

Carol's journey began in Butler, Alabama, but her path took her to Houston, Texas, where she graduated from Smiley High School in 1958. Her career as a cafeteria lady from 1975 to 1981 was an adventurous time. A woman of many interests, Carol relished her trips to Las Vegas and BINGO excursions with her fellow cafeteria ladies, often returning with tales of adventure and laughter (and no money). A loyal Houston Astros and Alabama fan, she was known to cheer passionately (holler at the TV) from her living room, her feisty nature shining through with every game. But perhaps her greatest joy came from playing card games with her family, where her competitive spirit and infectious laughter, or cheating allegations filled the room.

Carol was a woman defined by her love for family and an endearing feistiness that could light up the darkest room. Her legacy is one of strength, love, and an unwavering commitment to those she held dear.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Carol's remarkable life on June 22, 2026, at 1:00 PM, at Brookside Funeral Home, located at 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, TX 77039.
