Carol Sherman Davis, beloved mother, Nana, teacher, and friend, passed away peacefully on May 9, 2026, in Marietta, Georgia, at the age of 80. She was born on April 25, 1946, in Atlanta, Georgia, to Henry Sherman and Rosa Lee Sargent Sherman.
Carol devoted her life to education as a deeply respected and beloved English teacher whose wisdom, humor, and generosity shaped generations of students and fellow educators. A gifted mentor, she remained connected to many of her former students for decades, offering encouragement, insight, and friendship long after they had left her classroom.
She was known for her brilliant mind, quick wit, kindness, and selfless spirit. Carol loved books and lively conversation, and she found great joy in reading, gardening, cooking, and traveling with dear friends. She was also a passionate animal lover and an especially devoted Nana whose love for her family was constant and unwavering.
Carol is survived by her children, stepchildren, and cherished grandchildren; her brother, Jerald; and many nieces, nephews, dear friends, former students, and colleagues who will carry her memory forward with gratitude and affection.
A celebration of Carol’s life will take place at a later date.
