Catherine Gail Chambers was born on March 11th, 1954, in Eaton, Colorado, and grew up in Greeley, Colorado. Gail left this earth unexpectedly on April 22nd, 2026, at the age of 72. She will be remembered for her vibrant spirit, tenacity for life, and constant optimism about what lay ahead.
At 24, Gail moved to Anchorage, Alaska, and from that point on considered Alaska her home. She worked for Dean Weidner and Weidner Apartment Homes for more than three decades, rising to the role of Regional Director. Throughout her long and respected career, she became a cornerstone of the organization and helped raise the standards of the apartment management industry in Alaska and beyond.
Gail loved planning family trips and adventures, always creating lasting memories along the way. She was eager to explore new places and embrace each next adventure. She cherished Alaska’s wild, peaceful beauty with her husband, and her daughter as she grew up. Nearly every summer weekend, the family could be found by a river or lake, exploring remote parts of the state. After she and Tom bought their cabin on the Kenai Peninsula, it became their heaven on earth, and they enjoyed traveling across Alaska in their motorhome together. Alaska was Gail’s happy place, where she found joy in the open wilderness, evenings around the campfire, and card games with loved ones. In the winters, she planned family getaways to warm or tropical destinations, often spending special time with her brothers and sisters in the warmer lower forty-eight.
Over the years, Gail formed many treasured friendships and held them close to her heart. When her daughter married, she warmly welcomed her son-in-law into every family tradition, activity, vacation, and adventure. Spending time with her granddaughter brought her immense joy. In the later years of her life, Gail traded Alaska’s harsh winters for the warm sunshine of Arizona, Hawaii, Florida and other tropical destinations, traveling with her husband and, at times, her daughter, son-in-law, and granddaughter. She especially loved the tropics and the beach.
Gail is survived by her husband, Tom; her daughter, Cora; her son-in-law, Michael; her granddaughter, Kimber; her brother, Dean; her sister-in-law, Linda; her sister, Debbie; and countless nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Pauline (Arnold) Chambers and Claude Marvin Chambers; her brothers, Claude “Cub”, Don, and Jimmy; and her sisters, Jeanie, Beverly, Iris, Linda, and Carol.
Gail will be remembered for her fierce spirit, adventurous nature, thoughtful heart, and unwavering zest for life. She created countless memories that her family and friends will cherish for generations. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
“Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out, screaming WOOHOO, WHAT A RIDE!”
