Charles R. Fortner Jr., 77, of Shepherdsville, Kentucky, passed away on Friday, May 29, 2026.
Charles proudly served in the United States Marine Corps. Following his military service, he worked for the South Louisville Shops of L&N Railroad and later retired from Reynolds Metals.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles R. Fortner Sr. and Alma M. Fortner; his son, David Matthew Fortner; and his brother, Gerald Fortner.
Charles leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving wife of 55 years, Dorothy A. Fortner; his sons, Charles R. Fortner III (Holly) and Michael A. Fortner; his granddaughters, Lindsay, Sylvia, and Evie Fortner; his brother, Steve Fortner (Jennifer); his half-brother, James; his half-sisters, Georgia and Susie; along with many extended family members and friends.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Advantage Funeral Home - Hardy Chapel, 10907 Dixie Highway, Louisville, Kentucky 40272. Funeral services will begin at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Bethany Memorial Cemetery, 10917 Dixie Highway, Louisville, Kentucky 40272.
