Cherryl Ann Hunley

Cherryl Hunley, age 77, of Wilmington, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 26, 2026.

Born on May 19, 1949, in Norwich, Connecticut, she was the beloved daughter of Patricia Ann Caviggia.

Cherryl lived a life full of many experiences, lit up by her affectionate, bubbly personality and a passion for fitness and the arts.

A woman of diverse talents, Cherryl was an avid bowler. She competed on numerous leagues over the years, proudly filling her home with trophies and awards. Always supportive and highly knowledgeable, she dedicated many years to community wellness as a trusted fitness instructor for the YMCA, motivating everyone she taught with her bright energy. In her professional life, Cherryl excelled in retail management and successfully channeled her artistic creativity into entrepreneurship as the proud owner and operator of Whimsical Stained Glass.

Cherryl’s family and friends will forever remember her warm, encouraging spirit. She grew up with a special bond and closeness with her sisters. She is survived by her two daughters, April Hunley of Houston, Texas, and Christine Hooker of Wilmington, North Carolina; and her son, Timonthy Hunley of Wilmington, North Carolina. She leaves behind a beautiful legacy through her grandchildren, Michael Blackwell, Brendon Hooker, and Christian Hooker; her precious great-grandchild, Toni Blackwell; her dear sisters, Snookey Moore, Susan Parker, Tammy Ratcliff, and Linda Desaulniers; and her brothers, Michael Caviggia and Ross Camposanto.

Family and friends are invited to gather and celebrate Cherryl’s life. A Visitation will be held on Monday, August 31, 2026, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Coble Funeral and Cremation Service at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 1155 Shipyard Blvd, Wilmington, NC 28412.

A Funeral Service will begin at 11:00 am on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, in the Coble Chapel, with Pastor Pete Mata officiating. Interment will follow immediately at Oleander Memorial Gardens, 306 Bradley Drive, Wilmington, NC 28409.
