Chester William Getz

Chester William Getz, age 87, of Hanna City, passed away Saturday, July 25, 2026 at 11 a.m. at Cabin Livin Senior Care in Hennepin, IL.He was born March 22, 1939 in Peoria to George and Bertha (Pye) Getz, Sr. He married Clara Ellen Craig on November 15, 1959 in East Peoria. She survives in Hennepin along with one brother, Ron Getz of Florida, three nieces: Karmen (Jeff) Kohn, Christine Becker, Zoe Ann, three nephews: Daniel (Natalie) Becker, Mike Craig, Donnie (Vickie) Craig, several great nieces and nephews, as well as three great great nieces and nephews, and one sister-in-law, Linda Becker of Peoria.He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, and five brothers.Chester was a United States Army veteran, serving from 1962 to 1964. Following his time in the military, he worked for Illinois Water for 37 years, retiring in 2001. He was member of Laborer Local 165.He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and watching NASCAR. He was a member of the Bartonville American Legion Post 979.Cremation rites have been accorded. There will be no services at this time. Burial will be in Lutheran Cemetery at a later date. Davison-Fulton Woolsey-Wilton funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.Memorials may be made to the Mark Linder Walk for the Mind fund.
