Christina Marie Walker Groome

On June 2, 2026, Mrs. Christina Marie Walker Groome passed away at the age of 94 at Ste-Agathe-des-Monts Hospital. She was the beloved wife of the late Mr. Reginald Kehnroth Groome and the daughter of the late Mr. Alfred George Walker and the late Mrs. Lillian Amy Bishop.

She was predeceased by her husband, Reginald K, and her son, Roderick.She leaves to mourn: her children – Reginald A. Groome (Marilyn Nagels Groome) and Richard Groome (Penelope Heselton); her grandchildren – Erica (Danny), Royce (Gulce), Samantha (Jean-Marc), Reed (Kristine), Alexandra (Griffin), and Ryan (Eve); as well as her great-grandchildren: Alina, Sean, Brianna, William, Ella, Mia, Klara, McKenna, Dakota, Tala and Murray.

Christina was the matriarch of our Groome family for over 70 years. She held us together through thick and thin. She was wise, she was intuitive, she was a dedicated mother and grandmother. Christina was witty, with a good sense of humour. She studied music at McGill University and was a good pianist. She was a survivor of polio in 1960 which left her totally paralysed. Christina worked hard for several years before making a full recovery, she was determined to raise her young family with the best version of herself.

Throughout her husband’s career in business and his numerous charitable commitments, Christina was the one who supported him, and managed their hectic social calendar with charm and poise.

In her later years, after the passing of her husband in 1999, Christina took up full time residence at Lac des Becs-Scie, in St. Sauveur, in their cottage of 40 years, to enjoy a quieter lifestyle. In 2022, Christina was instrumental in donating, with her business partner, over 300 acres of land to the municipalities of Mille-Isles and St. Sauveur to create an intermunicipal nature park, which has since expanded to more than double that size with the recent addition of the former Tamaracouta Scout Reserve to the nature park.

The Groome family will host and receive condolences on Friday, June 12,2026 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 noon at Trudel Funeral Home, 214 Rue Principale, Saint-Sauveur.A service will follow at 12:00 noon at the same location, following which Christina will be laid to rest at the St. Francis of the Birds Cemetery in Saint-Sauveur.
