Clara Chung Lam Chiang Tien

19 septembre 2026 Dignity Memorial

Clara Chung Lam Chiang Tien passed away peacefully on the evening of September 19, 2026, at home, surrounded by love, after a courageous battle with lymphoma. She faced her illness with grace, strength, and a spirit that never dimmed.

Born in Shanghai on February 27, 1946, and raised in Hong Kong, Clara came to the United States in the 1970s, making Honolulu one of her first homes before continuing her journey to the continent. There, she learned English, built a life entirely on her own terms, and built Elegant J, Inc. into a respected wholesale jewelry business — a personal legacy she poured her heart into until her retirement. She had an eye for design and color, a quick wit, and a personal style that was entirely her own. She traveled the world, loved fiercely, and gave generously — to her family, her friends, and everyone lucky enough to know her.

She had many dear friends in Los Angeles, California, and Tucson, Arizona, and left an impression wherever she went. She never stopped reaching out — chatting and texting with friends until she couldn't anymore.

In the year before her passing, Clara returned to Honolulu to be near her son and his husband. In her final months, after deciding to enter hospice care, she moved into their home, where she spent her remaining time surrounded by family — living it, as she lived all her days, her way. Her niece, grandnieces, grandnephew, and their families visited often, bringing food, love, and a lot of youthful energy that filled the house.

Clara is survived by her son Terrance and his husband Chris; her daughter Anne and her husband Lionel; her grandchildren Aaron and Emily; and her brothers, sisters, cousins, nieces, and nephews around the globe. She was preceded in death by her husband Andrew, and by her mother and father, with whom she is now reunited.

Clara Chung Lam Chiang Tien will be remembered not just for what she built, but for how she made people feel — seen, loved, and a little bit better for having known her.

A graveside burial service is scheduled for Monday, October 6, at 2:00 p.m. at Hawaii Memorial Park in Kaneohe.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to a homeless nonprofit organization of your choice.
