Daniel Dunbar (Feb. 11, 1943- Sept. 7, 2026) (known affectionately as Dan or Danny to his wife and friends) passed away peacefully in North Vancouver from natural causes. A proud Scottish Ex-pat and professional engineer (metallurgist), Danny is remembered fondly by his wife (Beryl), sons (S. Daniel and Grant), in-laws, grandchildren, colleagues, and friends. Focused, disciplined, and hardworking, Danny grew up in Glasgow, Scotland, where he balanced his primary hobbies and pursuits of football (soccer), hall dancing, and engineering. Married to Beryl in 1966, they moved to Canada in 1968 to start his professional engineering career and to begin a family. Eventually settling in Vancouver after residing in Montreal, Toronto, Goring-on-Thames (England), and Sarnia (Ontario), Danny believed travelling offers a great education about life and he travelled extensively throughout his career. As a thrifty Glaswegian, he had a great travel point’s card! His engineering career focused on quality control, inspection, and procurement spanning aerospace, chemical, nuclear power, and metallurgical engineering. Danny made great friends in different continents and was well liked for his congenial personality and calm demeanour. In his retirement, Danny became a prolific painter, and his impressive collection of art has been admired by friends, family, and care workers alike. Most of his paintings reflect the natural beauty of Scotland, which always inspired his resilient spirit.
Daniel and Beryl are grateful to their family members, colleagues, friends, and caregivers for enriching their lives with beautiful memories and lasting friendships. Oh Danny Boy, the pipes, the pipes are calling...
