Daniel Lawrence McCairns passed away on Sunday, June 21, 2026.
Daniel was born October 8th, 1935, in St. Louis, MO, to William and Elizabeth McCairns. His family had Scottish roots and settled in Eldorado, IL. He studied at St. Mary’s Elementary School and Eldorado High School. Moving to Houston at 18, he lived with his aunt Margaret Griffith while attending the University of St. Thomas, graduating in 1958. He briefly worked for the FBI in Washington D.C. after starting law school at the University of Houston.
He served in the Air Force and Reserves from 1959 until his retirement as Major in 1980. He married Carolyn Carbajal in 1961, and they had two children, Daniel William and Sandra Marie. Daniel was active in law, defending youth and working in the District Attorney’s office. He was involved in his church and community, loved his family and animals, and spent time on his country home.
His funeral was held at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Houston.
