David George Milton

May angels lead you through the light,where day is endless, free from night …

David George Milton was about to celebrate his 56th birthday when destiny intervened. As it does for all who draw breath, his time had come to leave this earthly life and begin another journey. The day was pleasantly sunny and warm—a beautiful day for his voyage toward eternal peace and into the loving memory of all who knew him.His brother Jim, his nephew Izak, and his young niece Baylee had intended to share an important occasion with David. It was not to be. Instead of gathering with birthday wishes, the family who loved him came together in shock and disbelief to bid him a tearful farewell and Godspeed.And so, we mourn his passing.Born in Montreal on August 15, 1970, David was the beloved son of Sandra Jewett and the late Paul Milton. He was the older brother of James Andrew (Jim), with only thirteen months separating them.On their first day at Massey-Vanier Regional, the brothers from Vale Perkins met Ken Page of Cowansville. A lifelong friendship began that day. David, Jim, and Ken remained the closest of friends throughout the years. Their adventures were many, and their bond strong.As an adolescent, David spent time working alongside his grandfather, and developed a natural aptitude for all things mechanical. After a short time at LPA Plastics in Potton, David joined KDC/ONE in Ville de Lac-Brome in 2005. For 21 years, he was a reliable and respected employee and valued member of the team. He will be greatly missed by his co-workers.Good-natured and always willing to lend a hand, David was affectionately known within his family as a gentle giant. A traditionalist at heart, he enjoyed hosting family gatherings and spending time with friends. He was an excellent cook who delighted in experimenting with new combinations of foods and sharing what he created.David was happiest living quietly in Vale Perkins, where he had grown up and felt most at home. He appreciated the beauty of his surroundings in every season, photographing familiar landscapes and often sharing the images on Facebook page with words of wisdom and appreciation.An avid collector of Star Wars memorabilia, David also enjoyed building models of military equipment. Over the years, he created an extensive collection and became especially skilled at recreating detailed settings in which to display his models. He also loved music.Most importantly, David loved us.We will remember his gentleness, generous heart, friendly hellos, blue eyes, and, most especially, his big, warm hugs.David leaves to mourn his beloved mother, Sandra Jewett; his brother, Jim (Samantha George); his aunt, Carolyn Jewett; his nephews, Izak and Samuel Laplume; and his niece, Baylee Milton. He will also be deeply missed by his extended family, lifelong friends, neighbours, and co-workers.He was predeceased by his cherished aunt, Jane Jewett in 2016.Plans for a celebration of David’s life have not yet been finalized. In keeping with his shy and private nature, family and friends will gather later this fall to remember him, share their stories, and honour his life.Our family extends heartfelt thanks to everyone who has surrounded us with compassion, offered comfort, shared memories and shown us so many kindnesses during this difficult time.David lived quietly and loved generously. His gentle presence will remain in the places he loved, the memories we share, and in the hearts of those fortunate enough to have known him.Godspeed, David.
