David Leonard Sullivan, III

On August 10, 2026, David Sullivan, 90, peacefully passed away in the loving presence of his wife of 66 years, Margaret. David was born October 5, 1935, to David Leonard Sullivan, Jr. and Lillian Earl Sullivan, in White Stone, Virginia. David grew up in White Stone, enjoying sports, crabbing, fishing and other activities on Tabbs Creek and the Rappahannock River. He graduated from White Stone High School and initially attended the University of Virginia before joining the United States Army. He served in the 82nd Airborne and played clarinet in the Army Band. His travels with the Army Band led to a wonderful chance encounter with Margaret Bradley, whom he later married in 1960. After his service in the Army, David completed his education at the University of Richmond, graduating with a degree in Accounting. David and Margaret eventually settled in Richmond with their two sons, Brad and Randy. They joined Grace Baptist Church in the late 1960s. After working in accounting and finance for a number of years, David transitioned to computer consulting specific to personal computers (a new field at the time) and started his own business, Sullivan Business Systems. After retiring, David enjoyed working part-time at Pleasants Hardware for many years. David loved UVA, the Boston Red Sox, and sports generally, particularly when his sons were playing or his family was watching with him. He loved music and movies, and cherished enjoying both of these with Margaret. He loved the beach, collecting shells, fishing, and just generally being on the water. Above all else, David loved his family and the time spent with his family. David is survived by his beloved wife, Margaret Sullivan, his son, Randy Sullivan (Terri), and grandsons Andrew and Noah, all of Richmond, his daughter-in-law Donna Beck Sullivan, grandson Luke Sullivan, both of Erving, Massachusetts, and granddaughter Mariah Sullivan, of Concord, New Hampshire. David was preceded in death by his son, David Bradley Sullivan, of Erving, Massachusetts. A celebration of life will be held at Grace Baptist Church, 4200 Dover Rd., Richmond, VA 23221, on Sunday, August 30, 2026, at 2:00 pm.
