Delloris Ackerman

29 juillet 2026 Linton, Quebec Dignity Memorial

Delloris Ackerman Hill, 71, the widow of Dennis Hill, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, at her home, surrounded by her loving family. Ms. Delloris was born on April 10, 1955, in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, the daughter of Ervin Watson Ackerman and Myrtle Lucille Martin Ackerman. She was the beloved "baby girl" of six children and grew up alongside her siblings, Dewitt, Robert, "E.B.," Argerine, Joe, and Diane. A 1973 graduate of Andrews High School, she later earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of South Carolina. Delloris devoted her professional life to serving others. She served as Deputy Coroner for Richland County for several years and later worked as a Magistrate Assistant for numerous judges throughout the Columbia area, where she earned the respect of colleagues and the community alike for her dedication, compassion, and professionalism. More than anything, Delloris possessed a true servant's heart. Known to many as "DD" or "Aunt Delloris," she found her greatest joy in serving, encouraging, and loving others. She played an instrumental role in coordinating numerous mission trips for local churches and faithfully served as a member of the Building Hope Mission Team. She loved investing in the lives of young people, willingly chaperoning youth group trips, preparing meals, sharing laughter, offering warm hugs, and demonstrating the love of Christ in countless ways. Her home—affectionately known as "The Hill Top Inn"—was always open to anyone in need of a place to stay. Every guest was welcomed with a warm smile, a home-cooked meal, and meaningful conversations that often lasted well into the evening. Family was the foundation and greatest joy of her life. When not in Columbia, "DD" cherished spending time with her "Sissy," Argerine (George), and their family, including Lisa Altman (Woodie), Lynnette Bryant (Terry), Lesli Blakely, Blakely Fallis (Chris), and Kelci Smoak (Brad). She especially loved spoiling her "big boys," George Jamison and Colson, as well as her "little boys," Mase, Maverick, Nixon, and Hampton. She is survived by her sisters, Argerine Blakely (George) and Diane A. Mills (Dennis); her sisters-in-law, Gloria D. Ackerman and Debbie Ackerman; and numerous beloved nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her lifelong friend and devoted caregiver, Brenda Cooper, and her faithful prayer warrior, Lorraine Floyd. She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Dennis; and her brothers, Dewitt Watson Ackerman (Barbara), Robert A. Ackerman (Willamina), Ervin Boyd "E.B." Ackerman, and Joe H. Ackerman. Her kindness, generous spirit, unwavering faith, and genuine love for others left an enduring legacy that will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know and love her.
