Delores Gail Garrett

2 juin 2026 Dignity Memorial

Gail Garrett, age 83, of Southside, Alabama, known to most as “Nana,” left this earth on June 2, 2026, to once again be with the love of her life, Ken, and her precious mother, Mimi, in Heaven. She was of the Baptist faith.

Gail worked for the Etowah County Board of Education for 19½ years, where she developed many lasting friendships. She loved her job, especially the people she worked with. When her precious grandchild was born, she gladly gave that up for her “Nana Time.” During this time, she also served as a devoted caregiver for her mother.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ken Garrett; her mother, Mildred “Mimi” Newkirk; and her sister, Janice King.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Patrick (Robin) Garrett and Kris Garrett; her grandchildren, Delanie (Tim) Tillman, Jon Tyler (Brooke) Garrett, Nathaniel Garrett, Savannah Garrett, Dalton Martin, and Ethan Martin; her chosen daughter, Terri (Jerry) Fish; Ashley Renee; her sister-in-law, Shirley (James) Martin; Jenny Dempsey; and a host of extended family members and friends.

Gail was a special person to all who knew her. She had the biggest heart and a remarkable way of making everyone feel like family. Her kindness, generosity, and love touched countless lives, and her memory will forever be treasured by those blessed to know her.

Pallbearers will be Jon Tyler Garrett, Nathaniel Garrett, Ethan Martin, Dalton Martin, Tim Tillman, and Buddy Mitchell.

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Joann Jones, Gentiva Hospice Staff Taylor Haley, Morgan, Penny, Carol, and the entire staff of Gentiva Hospice. They extend their love and appreciation for the compassionate care, comfort, and support provided during Gail’s final months.

Although a void has been left in our hearts, we rejoice in knowing that she is no longer suffering and has been reunited with her loved ones.

A Graveside Service will be held on Friday, June 5, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Rainbow Memorial Gardens.
