Delores Jeanie Helton

Mrs. Delores “Jeanie” Helton, age 80, returned to her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, with her family by her side. Jeanie was born in Louisville, Kentucky, to the late James Edward Sappington and Lucille (Davis) Sappington. She was a retired cashier and clerk for the old Super X Drug Store; she was a faithful member and Sunday school teacher of Rolling Hills Baptist Church; a loving and caring wife, mom, Mamaw, and sister. She will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Jimmy Sappington, sister Carol Johnson.

She leaves to cherish her memories the love of her life for 61 years Donald Helton, children daughter Terrie Ballinger (Tommy), son Darin Helton, daughter Tammy Shearer, 5 grandchildren Brandon O’Keefe (Karlee), Joshua Ballinger (Kendall), Jordyn Duckett (Aaron), Clayton Shearer, and Shelby, 5 great-grandchildren Roman, Stella, Kade, Peyton, Rayeann, sister Wendy Lunsford (Billy), along with a host of nieces, nephews and other dear family and friends.

A Visitation will be held on Monday, August 10, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Schoppenhorst Underwood & Brooks Funeral Home (4895 N. Preston Highway at John Harper Freeway). A Funeral Service will take place Tuesday, August 11, 2026, at her church Rolling Hills Baptist Church (4290 N. Preston Highway, Shepherdsville, Kentucky 40165). Service will start at 11:30 a.m. with a brief visitation from 11:00 a.m. till time of service. Burial to follow at Louisville Memorial Gardens East Cemetery and Funeral Home (11601 Ballardsville Road, Louisville, Kentucky 40241.
