Donald Lee Reece

Donald Lee Reece, 87, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 13, 2026. He was born on July 1, 1939, in Louisville, Kentucky, to Rollin Burton and Bessie Lee Clark.

Donald proudly served his country in the United States Navy for 27 years, retiring as a Chief Warrant Officer 4 (CWO4). His dedication to his country and his service were a source of great pride throughout his life.

Donald was a true "jack of all trades," someone who could seemingly fix, build, or figure out just about anything. He enjoyed life’s simple pleasures, including being an avid golfer and a devoted University of Kentucky basketball fan.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Mary Lou Reece, and their children: Chris Reece; Gary Reece (Maria); and Dennis Reece. He was a proud grandfather to Tori Reece, Kyle Reece, Blair Friend (Andrew), Hayden Reece, and Tanner Reece.

Donald was preceded in death by his siblings, Kenny Reece Sr., Lovey Cantrell, Cheryl Comstock, and Rollina Reece.

Donald will be remembered as a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, a proud Navy veteran, and a man who was always willing to lend a hand. His knowledge, determination, humor, and ability to fix almost anything will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 17, 2026, from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Schoppenhorst Funeral Home at Fairdale, 411 Fairdale Road, Fairdale, Kentucky.

His Funeral Service is on Friday, September 18, 2026, at 12:00 noon at Schoppenhorst Funeral Home at Fairdale with burial with military honors to follow at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Central in Radcliff, Kentucky.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that those who wish to honor Donald do so by remembering him with a kind deed, a round of golf, or by cheering on the Kentucky Wildcats.
