Donald Rufus Byrd passed on April 18, 2026, at the age of 87; born April 10, 1939, in Hawkins, Texas, Donald later resided in Houston, Texas. Don Byrd, age 87, of Houston, Texas, passed away peacefully.
He is survived by his children, Julia Ehmling, Russ Byrd, and Dana Neal, as well as four grandchildren, Matthew Ehmling, Michael Ehmling, Sarah Neal, and Tyler Neal. and four great-grandchildren, Savannah, Caysen, Easton, and Noella. who will carry on his legacy.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Linda Byrd.
Don was the proud owner of Gulf Coast Spring, where he built a reputation for hard work, integrity, and dedication. He was known for his strong character and the relationships he formed through both his business and his community.
Don had a deep love for horses and treasured the time he spent at his place in the country and with his family.
A graveside memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 25, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. at Brookside.
