Doris Helen Jansen was born on January 16, 1929, in Hartselle, Alabama, where she was raised on a farm through her early adult years. On July 10, 1954, she married the love of her life, Hans Jansen, beginning a life together filled with family, travel, love, and countless memories.
Together, Doris and Hans traveled throughout the country while raising their three children, Mike, Danny, and Debbie, as Hans proudly served more than 20 years in the United States Air Force. Their years together were filled with adventure, dedication to family, and a lifetime of shared experiences.
After Hans retired from the Air Force, they settled in Orlando, Florida, where Doris began a career at Storybook Nursery School. As Assistant Director, she spent many years caring for, nurturing, and educating generations of young children. Her gentle nature and love for children touched many families throughout the years, and she remained at Storybook until her retirement in the late 1990s.
Outside of work, Doris found joy in the simple things she loved most. She loved to cook, tended lovingly to the flowers in her garden, and took great pleasure in welcoming family and friends into her home. Her home was a place where people felt loved and cared for. Above all, Doris loved her family dearly and treasured every opportunity to spend time with them.
Doris was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Hans, in 2021; her three children, Mike Jansen, Danny Jansen, and Debbie Steib; her son-in-law, David Steib; her grandson, David Steib; her parents, Lillie Pearl Harvel and James Lafayette Harvel; and her nine siblings, Vera White, Evelyn Crowe, Wynola Garrison, Mary Varnell, Jane McAbee, James Harvel, Eddie Harvel, Willie Harvel, and Bobby Harvel.
She is survived by her grandson, Corey (Nicole) Steib; her great-grandchildren, CJ Steib and Olivia Steib; and numerous loving family members and friends who will forever cherish her memory.
Doris will be remembered for the life she shared with Hans, the family she loved so deeply, the children she cared for throughout her career, and the countless lives she touched along the way. Her love, kindness, and warmth will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her.
She will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever cherished by her family and all who knew and loved her.
