Edward Charles Swanson, 82, of Temple Terrace, FL, passed away on May 10, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. He was born April 17, 1944, in Vallejo, CA. His childhood was spent in the Seattle, Washington area and as a teenager in Cocoa Beach, FL.
Ed is a proud graduate of the University of Florida where he met his wife, Marilyn. For many years, he enjoyed spending Saturday mornings with his golf group at the TTG&CC. Ed was a member of Temple Terrace United Methodist Church for 40 years, belonging to several groups and committees.
He was as avid reader with many interests, but he particularly enjoyed detective novels usually reading 2 or 3 books a week. He loved cooking and enjoyed playing dominos after he prepared a great dinner for everyone. He frequently expressed his love to his wife, children and grandchildren and was proud of their accomplishments and the lives they built for themselves.
One thing about Ed was that he was always making friends. In grocery stores, restaurants, or malls and while traveling he knew how to make people feel special by listening and learning more about their lives.
He retired as an Allstate insurance agent working in Brandon and Temple Terrace. After retirement, he enjoyed taking walks in Bonnie Brae Park each morning, greeting the other walkers and their dogs. He loved many dogs throughout his life and leaves behind his last dog, Astro.
Edward is survived by his wife of 56 years, Marilyn Langston Swanson; his daughter, Aimee Swanson Lake (Kevin); his son, Travis Langston Swanson (Jessica); and his grandchildren, Summer and Grace Swanson, Emma and Gavin Lake, and Christian and Joshua Marketta.
Special thanks to Dr. Sailesh Shah and APRN Dee Perez for their care and support throughout the years and the compassionate staff at Advent Health during his recent visit.
