Edward Colin Williams

16 septembre 2026 Dignity Memorial

Edward (Ed) Williams passed away peacefully on September 16, 2026 at his home at Westside Court in Assiniboia, SK at the age of 82 years.

Ed was born in Stratford-on-Avon, England on January 6, 1944 to Ben and Betty Williams, the eldest of six children. At the age of 18 months Edward set sail across the Atlantic Ocean for Canada with his mother, a War-Bride, on the long journey to Canada to join his Dad who had returned home due to medical reasons from the war in 1945. Upon arriving in the Crane Valley/Cardross area in Saskatchewan, Edward began his life as a farm boy.

At the age of six, Ed attended Crane Valley Rural School until 1954, then the Crane Valley School until eighth grade. After eighth grade, Ed helped on the family farm and worked at the Sodium Salt mines at Bishopric, Chaplin, and Fox Valley. An accident which crushed his hand ended his mining career. Once able to return home from rehabilitation, he worked on the farm, purchased land, and drove a school bus. He enjoyed community involvement, including the Oro Lake Kinsmen club, and various hobbies like curling and cribbage.

Ed moved to Westside Court in Assiniboia in 2015, enjoyed companionship, and made many new friends. He was predeceased by his parents, brother Vernon, niece Candace Williams, and brother-in-law Bill Shaw. He is survived by siblings Ivy (Harvey) Shaw, Leslie (Lynda), Florence (Dave) Milne, and Kathy (Cecil) Myhre, as well as many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and friends.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Stars Air Ambulance. A memorial service is scheduled for September 29, 2026 at 1:00 pm at Ross Funeral Chapel, Assiniboia.
