Edward Cowan

Long-time Sikeston music educator and band director Edward (Ed) Cowan died on Sunday, July 19, 2026. Jackie Cowan, Dean Cowan, Jennifer Cowan and the extended Cowan family invite everyone who knew Ed - including former students - to celebrate his life on Saturday, July 25, 2026, at the St Francis Xavier Parish Center in Sikeston. Ed loved teaching, music, and mechanical things. He was a passionate music educator, mechanically inclined, and had a quick, wry sense of humor. Ed served as President of Sikeston Little Theater and directed the orchestra for musical productions. He was also actively involved in community activities, enjoyed collecting photos of National Parks, and loved to tease his family. Ed was born in Sullivan, Missouri, and was a dedicated teacher for over 32 years retiring in 2004. He served in the US Army and was a band member during his service. Ed's passions included music, puzzles, mechanics, and community service. He was also a member of Hunter Memorial Presbyterian Church and served as an elder there.
