Elsie Clara Viergutz

Elsie Clara Viergutz, age 87, passed away peacefully in her sleep on August 20, 2026.

Born to the late Daniel Sengstacke and Hilde Krech Sengstacke, Elsie is also preceded in death by her beloved husband, Klaus Viergutz; and her brother Daniel Sengstacke.

Here to carry on her memory are her children, Linda Marsicano (John), Mark Viergutz (Amy), and Michael Viergutz (Laura); her grandchildren, Samuel, Jordan, Arden, Madeline, Thomas, and Clara; her great-grandbaby Kaia; and a host of extended family and friends.

Generous with her time and spirit, Elsie loved everyone. She leaves behind a legacy as a devoted Mom, Oma, and friend. Throughout her life she was involved in the German Club, Brooklawn, Hike's Point Women's Club, and she faithfully served at her church. She enjoyed socializing with her friends, playing cards, and late-night phone calls. Elsie was deeply loved by everyone in her life, and she will be sorely missed.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, August 29, 2026, from 12:00 PM - 4:00 PM at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven, 4400 Bardstown Road, Louisville, KY, 40218. A funeral service in Elsie's honor will begin at 4:00 PM at the funeral home. Elsie will be laid to rest privately in Resthaven Memorial Park.
