Ernest Maxwell West

Ernest “Ernie” Maxwell West, age 77, of Pataskala, Ohio, passed away on Saturday, September 19, 2026, at Tuscany Gardens. He was born on July 15, 1949, in Columbus, Ohio to the late Charles and Marcy West. Ernie was a proud veteran of the Army National Guard, serving for six years during the Vietnam era. He retired from American Electric Power (AEP) after 30 plus hardworking years, he built his way from the ground up with the company. Ernie enjoyed playing in his Bluegrass Gospel band, Cane Ridge Revival. He never met a stranger and was a friend to all, he would lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Ernie is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Vicki West; children, Julie (Jeffery) Clem, Joshua (Theresa) West, and Jonah (Melinda Claypool) West; grandchildren, Jessica, Jacob, Jordan, Braxton, and Dinah; many great-grandchildren; His brothers and sisters in law, Joni (Gil) Moore, Rich (Brenda) Hartman, Sunny (Dale) Groves, Toni (Jerry) Hartman, and Robert "Ob" (Kim) Hartman, and his nieces and nephews, and a host of other family, friends, and loved ones. In addition to his parents, Ernie is preceded in death by his grandson, Justin Vogel; and sister, Darlene (John) McElroy.
