It is with heavy hearts that our family announces the passing of Farid Bismarji on Friday August 14, 2026. A loving husband of Wafa-Basil Nasser and a dedicated father of Hanna, Maria, Sami (Wife Roula Abboud, and children Gabi, Fred, Christy and Georgio). A caring brother of Gadar and the late Victoria, Bashir, Farida, George, and Emanuel Bismarji.
Farid was born in Syria on June 5, 1933 to a Syriac Orthodox family that has deep roots with the Syriac church. In his childhood, he developed a lifelong passion for writing, classical music, and reading. He completed his high school at the American College of Aleppo and soon started working for the oil company Mobil. Later, he was transferred to Homs, Syria, where he met and married his wife. He was a successful businessman who had the opportunity to travel the world and live a long happy life dedicated to his family. He was an active member and a secretary of the church's parish council, co-established and chaired a social cultural club, and served as the inspector of the school church. He also published three books and wrote many articles for various magazines.
Farid's humility, dignity, good humor, and generous spirit touched everyone he met, regardless of their age. He never let life's challenges hold him back, even when things got tough in war back home in Syria.
