Fortunata "Nena" Martinez

Fortunata “Nena” Martinez, 82, passed away on July 11, 2026. Born in Agualeguas, Nuevo León, Nena made Houston, Texas her home for the past 50 years. The oldest of six siblings, she carried herself with a steady strength and quiet dignity, offering her care in ways that were practical, faithful, and enduring. A devoted member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Nena’s life reflected a deep reverence for family, tradition, and the everyday blessings that make a home.

Nena found joy in simple, beautiful things like tending to her plants and especially her roses, and filling holidays with the familiar comfort of tamales made with love and patience. Above all, she cherished her role as a grandmother and great-grandmother, taking pride in the generations she helped nurture and the closeness she cultivated among those she loved.

Nena is survived by her spouse, Jesus Martinez; her children, Jose Rodriguez, Amira Salazar, Paula Rodriguez, and Aida Rodriguez; her grandchild, Viviana Salazar; and her great-grandchildren, Katherine Rodriguez, Felipe Salazar, Juliana Rodriguez, Anilu Salazar, and Angel M. Garza. She was preceded in death by her mother, Celestina Salinas; her father, Manuel Salinas; her daughter, Anilu Garza; and her brother, Honorio Salinas.

Visitation will be held at Funeraria Del Angel Crespo, 4136 BROADWAY ST, HOUSTON, TX 77087, on July 16, 2026, from 10:00 am to 9:00 pm. A Prayer Service will take place there on July 16, 2026, from 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm. A Funeral Service will be held at Funeraria Del Angel Crespo on July 17, 2026, from 9:00 am to 10:00 am. Committal Service will follow at Forest Park Lawndale, 6900 Lawndale Street, Houston, TX 77023, on July 17, 2026, from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm. Nena will be remembered with respect and gratitude—for her steadfast presence, her devotion to faith and family, and the warmth she brought to life through the traditions she lovingly kept.
