Freddie Lorraine White

Freddie Lorraine White, age 87, of Austin, TX passed away into his heavenly home on September 7th 2026 in Columbus, OH. He was born in Winchester, TN on October 15th 1938 to the late Ethel and Ernest White. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Karen White, of Austin,TX, and by 11 siblings.

Fred grew up in Winchester, TN and frequently visited his home town to see family and his best friends, Flossie and Joann Davis. Fred attended Winchester High School and was part of the undefeated 1956 State Championship Football team. He served in the United States Air Force from 1958 through 1964 in Big Spring, TX. After he was honorably discharged from the AirForce in 1964, he began working in the banking business in West Texas where he eventually rose to be bank president in Austin, TX during his 40 plus year career.

Fred was an active member of the YMCA where he worked out 5 days a week. He was a member of the Riverbend Church since the mid 1980’s. He was an avid golfer for many years and enjoyed traveling with his wife, Karen.

Fred was known for being a caring friend to many. He enjoyed organizing annual Veteran’s Day luncheons for his veteran friends, driving elderly friends to the bank and being a helpful neighbor to those considered close friends. He also enjoyed his frequent lunches with banking friends and colleagues at his favorite lunch spots in Austin.

Some of Fred’s’ fondest memories were watching his granddaughter Sydney at her swim meets, horse shows and school functions, spending time talking University of Texas Football with his grandson Tyler and time spent with his friends and neighbors Homer and Carmen.

Fred will be greatly missed by his children Mark (Karen) White of Columbus, OH, stepdaughter Denise (John) Moody of Austin, TX, and stepson Nic (Linda) Holland of Austin, TX; grandchildren Valentina White and baby Jeremiah expected in September, Anna White, Tyler (Lydia) White, Sydney Holter and fiancée (Maxwell); step-grandchildren Michael Moody and Liz (Kris) Kelly and their daughters Quinn and Sloane.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date in Austin, TX. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Wounded Warriors, Alzheimer’s research or a local hospice affiliate.
