Fred (Frederick Miller Woodward) was born on April 15, 1943, in Clarksville, Tennessee, and passed away on July 19, 2026, at the age of 83. He was a scholarly publisher and university press director, known for his work at the University Press of Kansas. Fred was devoted to education, sports, and barbecue, and is survived by his daughters Laura Garrison and Kate Vanderpool, and his granddaughters Claire, Lillian, and Molly Vanderpool. He was preceded in death by his wife Elizabeth Smoak Woodward and also survived by his companion Susan Bennett.
