George A. Karonis, 94, of Arizona, passed away on September 9, 2026, with his partner and son by his side. Born in Chicago on February 1, 1932, George made Arizona his home for the past 30 years.
A proud U.S. Army veteran, George worked for more than 30 years at Western Textile. He was an avid sports fan who loved talking sports with friends, cheering for the Chicago Cubs, and attending Arizona Cardinals football games. He also completed six marathons. George had a zest for life and was surrounded by many great family members and friends.
He is survived by his caring and loving partner of 37 years, Ermelinda Valde, his son, Andrew Karonis, the mother of his son and former spouse, Joanne Karonis, daughter-in-law Allison, his cherished grandson, George W. Karonis, and loving nieces and nephews. He was preceded in passing by his sister Sophia Bolos (Karonis) and his brother-in-law George Bolos.
