Geraldine "Gerrie" McGuff

1 mai 2026 Dignity Memorial

Geraldine Evans "Gerrie" McGuff, a lifelong resident of Montgomery, Alabama, passed away on May 1, 2026, at the age of 85.

Born in Montgomery with humble beginnings, Gerrie possessed a strong will and a deep desire to build a better life for herself and her family. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who lived selflessly, always putting others before herself.

After graduating from Sidney Lanier High School, Gerrie began her career at CCC Associates as a floral designer. Through hard work, determination, and integrity, she rose through the ranks to become Head Comptroller, overseeing all accounting and financial records for the multimillion-dollar corporation—a remarkable achievement, especially for a woman in the mid-1960s.

It was at CCC Associates that she met the love of her life, Jimmy McGuff. The two married in 1968 and shared 57 wonderful years together. When she wasn't working, Gerrie devoted herself fully to her family and her beloved pets, including cats and dogs, especially her beloved pomeranians, Charlie and Teddy.

Gerrie was a longtime, active member of Frazer Methodist Church, where she found great joy in her faith, her Sunday school class, and serving others. She was also a dedicated volunteer at Wesley Gardens Methodist Assisted Living Facility, where she visited multiple times each week. She was known for baking treats and goodies for the residents she lovingly cared for—her "seniors", as she called them. She loved them deeply, and they loved her in return.

Later in life, she found joy as a recreational golfer, spending time on the course with her husband Jimmy and her son Jim.

Gerrie was known for her kindness and generosity. She had a natural instinct to help others, often organizing collections at work for coworkers facing difficult times. In the 1990s, after the passing of her assistant accountant, Vallarie, from cancer, Gerrie organized a company-wide yard sale that raised over $30,000 for Vallarie's children. That was simply who she was—selfless, compassionate, and always ready to lend a hand.

Her devotion to family extended beyond her immediate household. She lovingly cared for her father-in-law, Zac, and her brother, Charles, when they needed support later in their lives. From 1995 until her passing, she also managed the books for her son, Jim's businesses. Even after losing much of her sight to macular degeneration, Gerrie persevered—picking up a magnifying glass and continuing her work with determination and grace.

Gerrie will be remembered as steady, dependable, and strong—a rock for her family and all who knew her.

She is survived by her loving husband, Jimmy McGuff; Jim McGuff , Ken McGuff, Brad Belyeu, Amber McGuff, Addi McGuff, Cory Belyeu, Michael and Christy Jarrett, Wanda Belyeu, as well as her beloved dogs Teddy and Charlie.

Gerrie will be deeply missed, but her family finds comfort in the promise of being reunited with her in heaven.

A friends and family visitation is set for Saturday, May 9, 2026, 11:00-12:30 at Leak Memory Chapel with services concluding with a graveside service at Alabama Heritage Cemetery around 1:00 pm.
