Glenda Driggers Derrick, 82, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on August 2, 2026.
Born on February 11, 1944, in Columbia, South Carolina, Glenda was the daughter of the late Luke Haulston Driggers and Pauline Kirkland Driggers.
Glenda is survived by her devoted husband of 62 years, John Derrick; her son, Robbie Derrick (Susie); her grandchildren, Maddie Mann (Will), Bailey Derrick, and Jake Derrick; and her great-grandson, Liam. She is also survived by her sister, Patricia DuBose; her brother, Luke Driggers (Gloria); her sister-in-law, Linda Derrick; her nieces, Dee Dee Vonderhellen and Kimberly Jane Derrick; and her nephews, Hal Driggers (Tina), Benji DuBose (Katrina), and Derek Sanford (Lisa). She will also be missed by her poodle and constant companion, Jackie.
Glenda retired as Senior Vice President from Russell & Jeffcoat Realty in Columbia following a distinguished 43-year career. She was known for her dedication, professionalism, and the lasting relationships she built throughout her career.
She loved the home she and John shared on Fripp Island, where she enjoyed ocean views, watching birds, and tending to the flowers. She found joy in reading, gardening, traveling, and, above all, spending time with her family and friends. Glenda will be remembered for her fierce independence, for being a force of nature, and for doing things her own way. She was immensely loyal and kind, with an unwavering love for those closest to her. Her memory will live on through the many lives she touched.
A public graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 11, at St. Andrews Lutheran Church Cemetery, 407 St. Andrews Road, Columbia, SC 29210. Family and friends are invited to join the family for a luncheon at St. Andrews Lutheran Church, 1416 Broad River Road, Columbia, SC 29210, immediately following the service.
