Gregory Riesbeck

Gregory Riesbeck, 60, of Washington, West Virginia, passed away peacefully at 4:35 a.m. on September 15, 2026, with his family by his side, following a six-month battle with esophageal cancer. He was born on October 25, 1965, in Hialeah, Florida, to Bonnie Belle Riesbeck, and was raised in Woodsfield, Ohio.

Greg was known for always having a smile, his infectious laugh, and his ability to have a good time wherever he went. He was never a stranger to anyone and had a way of making everyone around him feel welcome. A friend to everyone. He proudly served in the United States Air Force and later retired as a gas plant operator with Williams Berne Plant.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, drinking a “couple” cold beers, cooking, singing karaoke and going on buggy rides. He truly made the most of every day and loved spending time with his family and friends. Many may know him as the “BOOM-MAN,” as he made an appearance at every soccer game he could, always the loudest on the sidelines. Even during this most difficult chapter of life, his sense of humor never left. He continued to find reasons to laugh and bring joy to those around him. He would never let cancer take that.

He leaves behind his beloved wife, Sandra Riesbeck; daughters Breanne, Kirsten, and Erin Riesbeck; son Travis and his partner, Isabella; and grandchildren Bryce, Madelynn, Avianna, Anthony, and Chandler, with another grandchild, Jahkai Gregory, soon to join the family.

He also leaves behind his father, Barney Riesbeck; siblings Ruth, Peggy, Abby, Teddy, Devin, and Anne; and many other extended family members and friends. A very special thank you to his sisters, Ruth Cramer and Peggy Jeffers, his personal nurse, for everything they did for him and for the love and care they gave throughout his illness. A special thank you to the Scott, Miller, and Keeler families for their kindness, love, and support as well.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Bonnie Belle Riesbeck.

There will be no formal funeral service. Greg will be cremated, and a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date, with details to be announced. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to honor Greg’s memory may make gifts or donations directly to Sandra Riesbeck, Salgi Esophageal Cancer Research Foundation or Parkersburg South Girls Soccer.

Greg’s memory will live on through the people who loved him, the laughter he shared, the countless memories made, and the many, many lives he touched. He will be so missed, by so many.
