Guy Nolan Bannister, age 93, passed away peacefully. Born on December 20, 1932, in Georgia, he was the son of the late Ernest Willie Bannister and Francis Lydia Dunn Bannister.
Guy dedicated his working career as a skilled sheetrock contractor, earning the respect of those who worked alongside him through his strong work ethic and craftsmanship. He also proudly served his country as a United States Army veteran during the Korean War.
A devoted family man, Guy treasured the time he spent with his loved ones and leaves behind a legacy of hard work, service, and love.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Sara Joyce Hood Bannister, and his grandson, Gary Bannister.
He is survived by his loving daughter, Joy (Shawn) Pope; his son, Steven (Kathy) Bannister; his grandchildren, Stevie Bannister, Erica (Travis) Yelton, and Michael (Rachel) Pope; and his cherished great-grandchildren, Avery Yelton, Delaney Yelton, Ashton Yelton, Emily Bannister, Nathan Bannister, Alex Bannister, M.J. Earl, Heath Pope, and Holly Pope. He also leaves behind extended family members and friends who will forever cherish his memory.
A graveside service to celebrate Guy's life will be held on Sunday, July 5, 2026, at Mt. View Memorial Park in Marietta, Georgia.
Guy will be remembered for his quiet strength, unwavering dedication to his family, faithful service to his country, and the lasting impact he made on all who knew him. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved him.
