Hanna Stark

Hanna Stark, beloved mother, grandmother, friend, and longtime resident of Jackson Heights, Queens, passed away, leaving behind a life filled with courage, kindness, creativity, and love.

Born in Austria, Hanna was just 14 months old when the Nazis entered Austria. She and approximately 40 members of her family fled the country and eventually found refuge in Bolivia. She later came to the United States, where she married Morris Stark, a survivor of the concentration camps. They were married for 30 years and worked together in retail and later as Administrators of a full service medical clinic until Morris’s death in 1994.

Hanna lived in Jackson Heights for 66 years and became a beloved part of the community. She was a familiar presence along 37th Street, especially in the neighborhood cafés, where she would warmly and sweetly talk with anyone she met.

After Morris’s death, Hanna worked as a paraprofessional in the New York City public schools. She spoke German, English, and Spanish fluently and loved writing poems and short stories, which she shared with family and friends around the world.

Hanna was known for her generosity, charity, and extraordinarily kind soul. She had a gift for making people feel welcome and cared for, and her warmth touched everyone who knew her.

She is survived by her daughter, Debbie; her son, Harvey; their spouses, Sam and Jennifer; and her beloved granddaughter, Rebecca, as well as many cherished friends and family members.

She will be deeply missed, and her memory will forever be cherished by those who knew and loved her.

A Funeral Service will be held at Schwartz Brothers-Jeffer Memorial Chapels, 114-03 Queens Blvd, Forest Hills, NY 11375, US, on September 4, 2026, from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm.

A Committal Service will be held at New Montefiore Cemetery, 1180 Wellwood Ave, West Babylon, NY 11704, US, on September 4, 2026, from 1:30 pm to 2:00 pm.
