Peacefully, on Saturday, August 1, 2026 in his 96th year. Beloved husband and best friend of the late Frances Laing for 48 wonderful years. Loving son of the late Jack and the late Sarah Pearson; and devoted son-in-law of the late Jean and the late Joe Laing.Lorne was an adoring and loving father and father-in-law to Bruce (Carla), Alan (Cathy), Jack (Connie) and former spouse Patricia.His family was the greatest joy of his life, and he took immense pride in watching it grow through the generations. He was the proud grandfather of Joey (Roni), Holly (Jeremy), Aaron, Jordan Yaacov, Adam, Danielle, as well as Lindsay (Carter), Sarah (Jacob), and Emily (Sam). More recently he became a great-grandfather to Eden. Dear brother and brother-in-law of the late Hal and Ruth Sherwin. Cherished uncle to Bob (Harriet), Rick (Elissa), David (Carol), Bonnie (Wayne), and Clifford (Ellen).Pre-deceased by his beloved Montreal Expos whose departure from Montreal he never quite forgave. An avid golfer, with a remarkable two holes in one. He hit 8-iron from the markers. Lorne proudly served in the Royal Canadian Airforce from 1951-1953.Lorne is survived by his special friend and companion of more than 20 years, Laura Rappaport, whose friendship brought him many happy memories.Though our hearts are heavy with his loss, we are grateful for the remarkable life he lived. His legacy lives on in his family, his friendships, and the countless memories that will be treasured forever. He will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.The family would like to thank the staff at both the Royal Victoria Hospital and Mount Sinai Hospital Palliative Care Units for the care and compassion provided.
