Hoshedar Pheroze Tamboli

Dr. Hoshedar Pheroze Tamboli, a man known for his kindness, compassion, and care, passed away on May 14, 2026, surrounded by his loved ones after courageously battling cancer for 11 years. Hoshedar loved travel, medicine, and his faith – but above all else, he loved his family.

Hoshedar, known to his friends as Hoshi, was born in Bombay, India in 1961. Hoshi's parents, Pheroze and Sheroo, were dedicated to providing a wonderful life for him and his little brothers, instilling in him the core values he would eventually impart to his own children. Though he faced the loss of his youngest brother, Zarir, during their childhood, Hoshedar carried Zarir’s memory in his heart every day. His brother Kaizad was not only his sibling but his closest confidant and best friend; they navigated the journey of life hand in hand, speaking daily, with Hoshedar always serving as a steadfast pillar of strength.

Hoshedar loved being a doctor. His mentor, Dr. Manekji Mody, was a cardiologist who took him on house calls from a young age, which set Hoshedar’s heart on becoming a cardiologist himself. Hoshedar attended B. J. Government Medical College and graduated first in his class at only 21. In April 1985, he traveled to America with a one-way ticket and only $450 in his pocket, believing deeply in the American Dream. After a month, he secured his Internal Medicine residency at the University of Illinois’s Weiss Memorial Hospital in Chicago. Following his initial training, he completed a fellowship in Cardiovascular Diseases at the University of Wisconsin Hospitals in Milwaukee. He later became an Interventional Cardiology and Research Fellow at the University of Wisconsin in 1990. By 1991, Hoshedar’s expertise was recognized when he was appointed Director of Interventional Cardiology at Marshall University in Huntington, West Virginia, while also serving as an Assistant Professor of Cardiology overseeing Invasive Cardiology. In 1999, his lifelong pursuit of excellence reached a historic milestone when he became a member of the very first cohort to be board certified in the newly established specialty of Interventional Cardiology.

For 34 years, Hoshedar served the Tampa Bay community as a cardiologist and lived his motto, “patients first, always” each day in the care of others. He was devoted to both his practice and patients, and due to his tireless work ethic saved a countless number of lives. In 1992, he placed the first ever heart stent in Tampa and in 1993 placed the first drug coated heart stent in the county. Throughout his career, he continued to innovate and contribute to the advancements to cardiovascular care.

After 28 years of growing the group that Hoshi first joined when moving to Tampa, he started his own practice in 2020 at the age of 59. He continued to pour his heart and soul into Heart Vascular & Vein of Tampa Bay, an immediately successful group based on Hoshi’s hard work and the care that he, his fellow doctors, and nurse practitioners provide. As a man of so many accomplishments in his medical career, he was the proudest of his practice and the community he built.

Despite all his professional accomplishments, Hoshedar’s ultimate love was his family. Hoshi’s life changed when he met Anahita. Hoshedar and Anahita had their first date in California, were engaged 6 months later, and married within a year. For the 35 years of their marriage, Hoshedar adored his wife. They built a home, family, and life together hand in hand. For Anahita, Cyrus, Sarosh, and Sanaya, Hoshedar was an ocean of love.

Hoshedar’s legacy will lives on through the lives he touched, the ones he saved, and his wife and children he so deeply adored.
