Isabel Amparan

Isabel Amparan passed away on Thursday, May 21, 2026 at the age of 92 in El Paso, Texas. She was under the care of hospice services after enduring multiple stays in the hospital and rehabilitation facilities in recent weeks.

She was born on July 9, 1933 in Monterey, Mexico as the second of four children (Felipe, Isabel, Luis, and Josefina) born to Jose and Paula Rodriguez. After the death of Jose, the family moved to Juarez, Mexico where three additional children (Rosalio, Apolinar, and Amelia) became part of the extended family. Isabel was the sole family member remaining after the death of her parents, brothers, and sisters.

In 1954 she met Angel Amparan and they were married on May 11, 1954. The couple had four children (Gabriel, Amado, Ramon, and Isabel Dolores). She is survived by her sons Gabriel and Ramon. Gabriel and his wife Carolyn reside in Columbia, Missouri. Daniel, their son, resides in St. Louis, Missouri with his family. Ramon, his two sons Anthony and Raymond, and his daughter Lissette reside in El Paso, Texas. Amy Licerio, a stepdaughter, resides in Houston, Texas. In addition, Isabel also leaves behind five great grandchildren (Xavier, Bishop, Zelda, Serenity, and Oliver).

In 1962 she attained her citizenship, which allowed her to work for the Texas Teachers Association for over 10 years. She primarily worked in a supervisory position at local middle schools managing aspects of food preparation. Ultimately, she retired to spend more time with her daughter who was enduring health issues.

She began her journey to assist the needy after the passing of her daughter in 1995. She volunteered for over 20 years with local hospice organizations to assist the poor and elderly. This included learning to play the guitar to become a part of the San Juan musical ensemble. The ensemble provided musical entertainment to local charity organizations in the El Paso area.

She remained an active member of the San Juan Catholic Church during her life. Her positive religious views along with her devotion, caring, and loyalty toward individuals will be missed by family and friends.

A visitation and memorial service will be held on June 11, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. with a funeral service at 1:00 p.m. at Funeraria Del Angel Restlawn 8817 Dyer St. El Paso, Texas 79904. An inurnment service will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
