James Edward Triplett

22 juillet 2026 Dignity Memorial

James Edward Triplett, affectionately known as Jimmy, Jim, and most especially "Trip," passed away peacefully on July 22, 2026, at the age of 72, surrounded by the love of his family and close friends.

Born on March 28, 1954, in San Diego, California, Jim spent his entire life in the San Diego and Chula Vista communities that he proudly called home. It was there that he built a loving family, formed lifelong friendships, and created a legacy of kindness, generosity, laughter, and unconditional love.

Trip was well known throughout the San Diego waterfront and shipyards as a hardworking and dedicated craftsman. During his career, he worked as a painter on U.S. Navy ships for Triple A and Southwest Marine, earning the respect of his coworkers through his strong work ethic, integrity, and pride in his work. He believed in the value of honest labor and took great pride in providing for his family.

Anyone who knew Trip knew they were in for a laugh. His quick wit, playful personality, and wonderful sense of humor could brighten even the hardest days. He loved making people laugh, and his smile and laughter were truly contagious. Whether he was telling stories, teasing those he loved, or simply enjoying time with family and friends, Trip had a special way of bringing joy to everyone around him.

Above all else, Trip's greatest accomplishment was the love he gave to his family. He was a devoted husband, loving son, dedicated father, proud grandfather, and loyal friend. He faithfully cared for his beloved wife, Becky Triplett, and his mother, Kathleen Triplett, always putting their needs before his own. His love was shown not only through words, but through his constant acts of service, sacrifice, and unwavering support.

His grandchildren held a very special place in his heart. Papa treasured every moment spent with them and found immense joy in watching them grow. Whether sharing stories, making them laugh, or simply being together, the memories they created will remain cherished forever.

Trip also found happiness in life's simple pleasures. He had a remarkable green thumb, and everything he planted seemed to flourish. Gardening brought him peace and satisfaction. He enjoyed raising pigeons with his father, a pastime that strengthened their special bond and created lifelong memories. He loved fishing, camping, and spending time outdoors, and he had a lifelong passion for motorcycles, embracing the freedom and adventure they represented.

James was preceded in death by his beloved father, James E. Triplett, and his cherished granddaughter, Shadae Wilson.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory his beloved wife, Becky Triplett; his loving mother, Kathleen Triplett; his nine children; his cherished grandchildren; extended family; and countless dear friends whose lives were touched by his kindness, generosity, laughter, and love.

Although his passing leaves an immeasurable void, Trip's legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him. He taught those around him the importance of working hard, loving deeply, caring for family, and finding joy in every day. His humor, compassion, and selfless spirit will never be forgotten.

Our hearts are broken, but we are grateful for the many years, memories, laughter, and unconditional love we shared with him.

He will be deeply missed, forever remembered, and always loved. Until we meet again, Trip.

"Well done, good and faithful servant." — Matthew 25:23
